ODBC driver #
The Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) driver enables any application supporting the ODBC protocol to connect to Starburst clusters. The client application can then issue SQL queries to a cluster and receive results. The ODBC driver supports both Starburst Galaxy and Starburst Enterprise platform (SEP).
The Starburst ODBC driver is available in two versions:
- V3 series

The V3 series was redesigned at Starburst to leverage the Trino spooling protocol, and is more performant than the V2 series, which supports Trino’s direct protocol. The V3 series is a drop-in replacement for the V2 series, and is currently available for Windows.
- V2 series

The V2 series is sourced from an external provider and continues to be available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
