Object storage connectors

This section describes the connectors available in Starburst Enterprise to create catalogs that enable access to data from data in object stores.

Connecting to object storage

Starburst Enterprise offers two approaches for accessing data in object storage:

• Great Lakes connector: Connect directly to a storage location without needing a catalog service. SEP automatically recognizes and reads from any supported object storage table format in that location.

• Table format-specific connectors: Connect to a specific table format’s catalog service to access tables in that format. Each connector requires its own connector configuration.

Object storage table formats

Starburst Enterpriseconnects to a variety of object storage sources and their metastores. Find the connector for your data sources below:

• Delta Lake connector
• Hive connector
• Hudi connector
• Iceberg connector

Starburst offers a Helm chart for deploying the Hive Metastore Service in Kubernetes. Additionally, AWS Glue can be used with Delta Lake, Hive and Iceberg connectors.
