Docker container#

It is possible to run Starburst Enterprise platform (SEP) in a Docker container for initial exploration and testing, as well as for deployments in Kubernetes. The SEP Docker image starburstdata/starburst-enterprise is available on DockerHub and the Starburst Harbor instance. It contains a full SEP distribution, including all connectors and other features such as the Trino CLI.

Out of the box, SEP container images provide a single node cluster with the following catalogs configured:

These containers can be deployed as a full cluster by mounting separate sets of configuration files for the cluster coordinator and workers.

Getting started#

You can run the container locally, making sure you publish port 8080 of the coordinator. For example:

docker run -d -p 127.0.0.1:8080:8080 --name presto starburstdata/starburst-enterprise

When the SEP server is ready in the container, the Web UI is started and available on the host at localhost:8080.

You can use the CLI with the same URL to connect and starting querying.

Other client applications can use the same URL.
